What is the color of the egg of the guinea pigs miteand pls put a picture2007-11-24 22:17:08

ive found an orangy thing in their cage and im curious bout it..

That's not mites. That's a parasite invasion, and a pretty bad one at that. You should immediately take the guinea pigs to a vet and have the vet check over for fungal infections. They could have mites as well, but mites are impossible to be seen. They don't leave the host, guinea pig, unless they are killed off by medication. I would either throw the cage out, or clean it really really well. How often do you clean their cage? Because that could be a source of the problem. You should clean it atleast once a week. Clean it throughouly with a 50% water and 50% vinegar solution. Replace the bedding completely.

if the guinea pig had mites, you wouldnt be able to see the mites eggs. well, it depends on what type of mites he's got but my rat had mites and they were a orangy colour but that was the mites not the eggs. i tried looking for eggs but i couldnt see them. sorry i dont have a pic. take them to the vet and the vet would give them 3 injections over a period of time. hope they get better!
