The hutch should be large enough for the rabbit to stretch out fully and sit up on its haunches and where a run is provided it should allow at least 3 hops from one end to another. Obviously even a hutch this size is not sufficient exercise and your rabbit will need daily walks to make up for it. Runs must provide shelter from the sun as rabbits are prone to heat stroke and a bolt hole where the rabbit can go if it feels threatened.

Most rabbits if given a large enough area will create a separate toilet area in the hutch leaving their bed clean. This natural instinct can be used to train rabbits to use a litter tray. Litter trays should contain only safe products that are not harmful if eaten eg paper, hay, chopped straw. Soiled bedding should be removed as soon as possible after wetting to avoid staining, sore feet and respiratory problems from the ammonia.

The bigger, the better. It should include a closed little area with a small hole for the rabbit to eneter to sleep and to hide if it gets scared. The cage should be a sbig as possible to allow the rabbit to hop around.

As long as it's big enough for bunny to strech out in both directions and to sit up straight, technically its big enough - and some breeders do keep their rabbits in cages like that. Personally, my cages are slightly taller than the rabbit when their up on their rear paws, and have lots of room to play around, stretch out, and a nice hidey hole to sleep in.
