What is the typical lifespan for a male guinea pig2007-11-24 22:17:40

His breed is Abyssianian.

Answers:

The breed really doesn't have any bearing on the answer like it would for breed of dog. There's also no life expectancy difference between males and females.

A guinea pig will, on average, live five years. Some will live a few more years depending upon how well they are cared for (housed indoors or out, quality of pellets & hay, fresh veggies, etc.).

I believe up to 2-5 years for guinea pigs.
3 to four years
On average, guinea pigs live from four to eight years, so their care is a long-termcommitment. Males are known as boars and females are called sows. Guinea pigs needcompany of their own kind and can be kept in same sex groups or in pairs.
