What is this and what should we do with it
Here's the picture: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/c...
We found this guy in a Fred Meyer parking lot and decided to take him home since he was nearly getting wiped out by the cars. There wasn't a nest around that we could find. We don't know what it is and we don't know what we should do with him. He's really young, possibly not weened...? Keeps his eyes closed most of the time. Would he survive if we let him go? Where should we let him go if we do?
For those of you who will suggest it, he's too small to make a viable meal and we don't have a snake. The goal is to protect his life.
Thanks
Answers:He is indeed a chipmunk. Most states have wildlife conservation officers to care for these critters, and it is often illegal to keep them unless you are a certified rehabilitator. Check with your state wildlife control asap.
that looks like a chipmunk!! hes a cool looking little fella!! dont kill him whatevr you do.
I would take it to the local vet or to a petco store...acutally you can drop it off at a petco store or other pet stores for them to take in.
Awww! It's adorable! I say you keep it, but I don't know what it is! If it's really just a baby, it probably won't survive on its own.
That is a chipmunk. Contact your local humane society and/or SPCA and they should be able to give you the number to a wildlife resuce in your area. You could also try searching for local wildlife resues online.
