Wet-Tail is a form of colibacillosis and is triggered by stress. It is most common in young hamsters and is almost always deadly. The hamsters get severe diarreah and essentially become dehydrated and die that way. And sadly, if a pup in a litter of hamsters has wet-tail, chances are very high that the other pups will catch it as well. That's why when you are looking to adopt a hamster, it's important to make sure that ALL the hamsters in the cage are healthy looking.

Mild cases can be cured by heavy injections of anti-biotics, but generally the hamster has a quick (and yucky) death.

There are other hamster diseases that seem to be wet-tail, and I have had a hamster catch a common cold and it looked like wet-tail. The best diagnosis is a quick trip to the vets, because sometimes your hamster won't have wet-tail and can won't have such a bleak outlook.

Diarrhea- it is caused by alot of different things -to many vegetables a dirty cage or a rodent being sick.

Its diarrhea and a lot of times is caused by infections. In Hamster you will notice they act sick overall and their back end will appear saturated with liquid and poo. . Their back may also start to hunch. It can be fatal. You can get a medication in the pet store.I used Dri Tail but often had to up the direct oral dose to twice a day every day for a week and then at least another week of it in the water bottle. Treat it if your pet has it and try to put your pet in seperate cage away from others as it is highly contagious. Once they get it, it seems to recur so try to keep the cages as clean as possible and don't do anything that causes stress, as it can weaken the immune system.

Wettail is like diarrhea, and it needs to be treated immediately! I'm not sure what causes it, but I know it's bad. You can buy wettail drops at a petstore for that cause.

Its a disease in the bowel (gut) of a hamster. It causes severe runny poo's, a messy bottom, and an awful smell. its also deadly in hamsters.
