It can be caused by a dirty cage, unclean water, unfresh food, and a cage that is not being cleaned as often and as proparly as it should.

However, stress can also cause wet tail which is why its more common in young hamsters as haamsters do find the move from a pet shop into a new cage and hime very stressful.

what is wet tail?

Wet tail is watery poo, combined with urine. It is a deadly diease, and symptoms is the hamster having a wet tail. Normally it is brown in color.

Wet tail can be caused by 2 things:

Stress : stress can cause the hamster to have diehorrea, and in turn cause a wet tail.

Too much water in its diet: Probably too much fruits and veggies with very high content of water.

What to do: wash the area with saline 2 times a day, keep the tail dry as much as possible. and if this fails, do bring it to the vet.

and for those whom are feeding veggies and fruits. Do remember not to give to much :)

prevention is better than cure :) it is never too late :)

Wet tail is a disease that makes rodents sweat a lot and is more than likely to kill them. You can prevent this by not feeding them lettuce. Lettuce causes it. But carrots and oatmeal is good for them
