What is wrong with my hamster2007-11-24 22:17:43

Ive asked a question about a week ago that my hamster was sneezing and putting her head up against the glass tank. After that day she stopped sneezing and was doing good. But today she is kinda being lazy and this morning she was sleeping on her side...now I know some hamsters do that... but when I checked up on her again she was laying on her belly...is that normal? and then a few hrs later on her head was back up against the glass. Is she ok? I have not seen her sneezed yet. Also When I try to pick her up she shows her teeth at me. She is just alittle over a year old...is she dying?

I would take your hamster to the vet. Even if the hamster seems to have stopped sneezing, there still could be something there. A lot of times that a sign of an upper respiratory infection and quickly can lead to pneumonia if not treated.

Is it pregnate? because some petstores put the femals with the males. I think this may be her case if she shows her teath because hamsters are suppose to live from 3 to 4 years.

well she could just have a cold, if she has eye boogers or a wet tail from runny poo then its more serious. but colds can kill her, if u have the money and really care about her then take her to a vet. she could be pregnant though, check her belly to see if its bigger than it was at first. she most likely wont die, if u have cedar bedding she might be having a reaction to it, and since she is in a glass tank make sure she gets a lot of air, hope she gets better, good luck

what bedding do you use?? also aquariums are not good homes for them they breed mold and bacteria, maybe that's why it's sneezing and sick. get a crittertrail cage at petsmart and a bag of super shavin's bedding and see how she does.
