What is wrong with my pet rat
I have a pet rat. He is about 6 months old, and is currently living with my berkshire rat...also a male...in a cage thats big enough to house a guineapig comfortably.
Anyways, today, I have noticed that my hooded rat...whom is half white and half blue/grey by they way, has been acting a little strange. I went to pick him up just a little bit ago, and he was really laid back, and felt all squishy sort of.
His umm...male part stuck out a little, and ejected this hard white stuff.(get your mind out of the gutter) that was sort of like a hard jelly.
Now lastnight, I noticed that he has a little bit of blood around that area, but I didnt think anything of it, as he was running around, and just being himself after cleaning himself.
Today, he is just really laid back, and almost looks lethargic. He doesnt feel as solid as he should, and I am afraid he may die.
Is there anything that I can do to help him out? The only other option i have is to take him to the vet. Thanks!
Answers:I wish people would do some research before they answer ratty medical questions. Your question is serious, and it should be taken seriously.
This sounds to me like a penis plug problem. Rats his age should be grooming themselves properly, but they either don't, or won't.
