What is wrong with my rat2007-11-24 22:17:09

My pet rat- Munster- was recently looking a little fuller. Today I got to looking and it looks like she has a tumor or something on her belly. It is pretty big. Are rats prone to tumors or could it be from the heat or something?

its known that rats do get tumors often but maybe it is from the heat so go get it checked by a vet as fast as you can before your rat, Munster, DIES!

No it's not from the heat, or anything you did. I have had 3 rats and they all got that. I'm pretty sure tumors are just genetic. Take her to a vet right away and see what he says. It sounds like what my rats got, but maybe it is something else.

your rat most likely has a sist, i have a rat too n his name is pete. He had a large bump on his tummy for awhile that grew like to the size of the tip o' my pinky finger, but after awhile shrank and went completely away. I say give it like a month, n if its not gone take ur rat in to be checked out. good luck girl!

yes...female rats especially are prone to mammary gland tumors. take her to the vet to be sure.
