What kind of food can I feed my gerbils
So, basically I feed my gerbils just plain gerbil food. I also add some yogurt drops and these gerbil pretzals once in a while. So, what kind of vegetables or fruits can I feed my gerbil?
Answers:Yeah lots of things but I don't recommend lettuce because they are always sprayed and washed in loads of
chemicals!
*Everything listed : Cut into SMALL pieces!!
There are so many things a gerbil can eat, so it will take me ages to list them all, but here are some of the more unusual things:
*Dandelions (washed)
*Scrambled or boiled egg, only a small amount though
*Bits of Cheese
*Plain dog bisuits
*Some cereals, such as cheerios
*mealworms, dried (normally found in wild bird sections of pet shops)
*Millet spray (domestic bird section)
*Natural yoghurt
They can have a bit of most fruit, berries that we eat and veg, but steer clear of the things below: (All cut up into small pieces)
*Raw kidney beans
*Avacado
*Pear
*Raw potato
*Onion
*All plants from the garden other than dandelion
*Cabbage
*Lettuce
Anything other than Night shade fruit, ( tomatoes). These are usually toxic. Mine love apples, bread, cereal, broccolli, cooked noodles, etc. You will want to stay away from milk products and ice berg lettuce. The lettuce is of no nutritional value and their little bodies can not handle milk. Otherwise anything. Mine even like a a bit of chicken every once in a while, altho I do not feed it on a regular basis.
