What kind of fruits or veggies can I feed my bunny2007-11-24 22:17:14

I have a female, black mini rex rabbit. She is about 6 1/2 weeks old. My friend tells me that veggies such as lettuce and carrots give rabbits diarehha. And I am planning on showing her at rabbit shows and I dont want her to get sick. But all she eats is hay, oats, and pellets. I want to give her some fresh veggies or fruits as a treat once in a while. my other friend told me bananas are ok, but I am not sure. My rabbits name is starry btw.

Please give me sure answers. no " i think" or "probably." Thank you!

Answers:

The lettuce will give them diahrea. You can give her apples and I've feed mine carrots, make sure you peel the apples and don't give her the seeds though. She shouldn't really have any treats like these till she's over 3 months, what your feeding her now should be fine till then. When she's over 3 months just give her treats about once a week because it's like candy to them and she'll get fat real fast, and with her being a Mini Rex you don't want her to get over weight. I also give mine dried pieces of bread they seem to like it, and you could probably give her that now.

Since she is only 6 1/2 wks you might also want to give her tea to drink for a couple of weeks, you can just give her normal tea that we drink.

Well good luck with showing her! Are you a member of the ARBA, or just a 4-h shower? Well heres the ARBA website if you want more info on it: http://www.arba.net/
