i like the teddy bear hamsters they seem more calm to me than any other hamster and the long haired ones are very fuzzy i have had the most success with teddy bear hamsters than any other but i am planning on buying a dalmation hamster which seems very hypers so i think you best bet would be a teddy bear hamster

Get a rat instead. They are interesting, sociable pets who like humans.

I think you'll like hamsters. It doesn't matter what kind you get. All hamsters are pretty much the same, so just pick one that you like.

consider a gerbil or a mouse, hamsters spend their whole lives trying to escape.

If your set on a hamster, get a teddy-bear hamster, they're fuzzy and cute or a dwarf hamster is cute too.

I would go to your local library or pet store to see if they have any books on hamsters. I would also read up on how much care or equipment you might need for cage, food, and exercise wheels.

Read up on them first and then from what you read make your decision.

why dont you go look and see what hamsters you like. you do the research, not us. but i would say a dwarf. (GERBILS ARE NICER AND BETTER :P)

First a healthy hamster is a happy hamster...it doesn't really matter as long as the hamster is healthy and not to agressive make sure it isn't to shy either. to make sure its healthy check its fur and make sure its smoothe shiny and soft, make sure its not limping or has any cuts or bald spots, make sure its not squinting, and make sure its ears aren't at an angle to its head. hamsters like places to hide so i suggest you get a hammy shelter and tubes from paper towels and toilet paper rolls. Hamsters need exersize so you should get a wheel too. you should clean the cage every week. put about half an inch of bedding in the cage and about 2 to3 inches in a corner where it will nest. change its water every day and make sure its food dish is full, about once a day you can give your hamster a treat such as: a small peice of fruit or vegetable or 1 YOGIES made for hamsters and gerbils.. hope this helps

i hate when people tell you to get something that you do want to or do something that they think you shouldnt do .....well let me tell you what i should be telling you well i think you should get a teddy bear hamster other known as a syrian hamster ...they are easy to tame they are very friendly and so entertaining
