What kind of hamsters are the best as pets2007-11-24 22:17:17

I want one but my mom hates hamsters because one bit her once. I want a nice hamster that won't bite her. What do you think is the nicest one?

The Syrian hamster is the most popular pet hamster for children because it is gentle and easy to handle.

they maybe fiercely territorial.. but they fight among themselves only. They seldom bite and more slow and lazy than other species of hamsters..

I've kept many type of hamster for many years.. believe me.. they are the most gentle tamper of all.

(male hamster are best known to be more mild tamper then the female)

It really depends on the individual animal, but Syrian hamsters are generally the most social and friendly. Try going to a reliable pet store, breeder, or shelter and request a hamster that is easy going towards humans (I'm sure you'll find plenty). Also tell your mom that the hamster who bit her was probably just scared and that most hamsters make great pets! :)

Its kinda up to you, I have dwarfs thats what I like but do some research explore your options there are lots of different breeds out there.
