i hear trail mix and unsalted nuts, so my question is what nuts should i feed to the hamsters? i also hear bird seeds, does it really work??
Answers:Nuts that come still encased in their shells are brilliant for hamsters. because their teeth are consantly growing and need grinding down they need hard food to chew on. It also keeps them occupied for hours trying to crack open the shell and can prevent bar chewing (which can cause brain damage in hamsters)
I give my hamster monkey nuts, brazil nuts, hazelnuts and walnuts. the obvious to avoid are salted peanuts.
For my dwarf hamster i fed it seeds that came as treats made small for hamsters, cause big seeds they can choke on and die
=/
just don't feed it too much corn or sunflower seeds because it will get fat
