Bedding:

For my hutch I spread newspaper throughout the whole thing, I top this with aspen or carefresh (aspen or carefresh soak up the urine. Urine is the cause of guinea pigs smelling so if you have aspen or carefresh or you clean out the hutch regularly the won't smell), and in the inclosed section I put lots of hay.

REMEMBER:

You NEED to clean out the hutch and replace the bedding every 3-5 days to prevent ants and to insure that your piggy is as healthy as it can be.

Floor Time:

This can be done inside or outside and guinea pigs need at least 1 hour. I do it outside so that they can eat grass at the same time although you do have to watch out for birds. I also include pvc tunnels and other hiding spots for fun. Look at this site for more information.

Food:

Guinea pigs need 10mg of vitamin c every day to prevent diseases like scurvy. You can use the site below for a list of foods that you can feed your guinea pig and how much of that food that you need to give to get the 10mg.

This is what I feed my 2 guinea pigs in the morning;

1/2 carrot

1 celery stick

1/4 apple

1/4 red capsicum

And in the afternoon

1/2 carrot

1 celery stick

Grass during floor time

5 sprigs of parsley per piggy

They have a continous supply of:
