A rat they are the best i take mine to the stores (target, sams, costco and other stores =) in a small dogie carrying bags like for chihuahuas and littles dogs. if you want a more active one get a female if you want a laid back one get a male. If you do get one they do better in sets because they are very social and some people say that they live longer in two or more. i am litter training them right now and it is working pretty good.
