What kind of rabbit should i get2007-11-24 22:17:44

I was looking into getting a pet, other than a dog or cat sinc ei live in an apartment. I want one that is very social and likes to be held and around people. i need a small one because i have to get a small cage since my apartment. I want one that isnt too expensive and is good with kids. any suggestions? also any info on them would be good.

Not many pets are good with kids. The only one that is is a dog, but you've already cleared that option. I have dwarf rabbits, they are small, but fragile. Kids love them, but if they are around young kids, that is not so good because they are go small. Also, they can scratch. So dont just think of the harm that can come to your kids, but think of the harm they can cause the animal.

A great example is the question above yours! This lady's son threw his hamster and now it's legs are paralized! That is horrible. So if your kids are not mature enough to handle pets dont get them any.

But if your kids are mature and over the age of 9, then dwarf rabbits are a good idea. They teach a lot about responsibility, that's for sure.
