should i buy a male or a female rat? And what type should i buy!

You should get a pair of rats, either 2 boys or 2 girls. I have found girls seem to stink less, though some feel strongly boys are sweeter. they are social animals- they will be happiest with a friend. you also might consider 2 boys, because often female ratties go home pregnant, meaning you could be looking at an extra dozen ratties you didn't know about originally! No chance of that with boys-

As for Male or Female, it depends on what you are looking for in a pet.. females are very friendly, active and love to be out of the cage and explore and play, males, just like to be out of the cage and hang out on you shoulder, they are happy with a companion, clean bedding, food, water and you!

*I like the larger breed of rats, when i got mine there were smalled sized rats there too..

*mine are dumbo rats but any kind of domestic are just as cute :)

me myself, i have a rex rat. it really doesnt matter what kind you buy though. they are all freindly. i think you should get a rex though.
