What kind of rat should i buy male or female
*Depends what you are looking for in a pet, both are great!
*Girls-- love to explore! they will run around and check out everything in the room, they love to be out of the cage and just running around the house. They have lots of energy and need lots of things to do. They love to play games and play with you!
*Boys-- are very friendly and relaxed! they are happy just sitting on your shoulder and watching tv with you! they would rather be sitting on your shoulder sleeping than running around. Boys do smell more than girls because they spray to mark their territory to other males.
*Both of them make great pets, BUT PLEASE GET TWO!! no matter what the gender, rats are extremely social and need a constant companion for when you dont have time for them!
male
Females stink less, but many people find males to be friendlier (I've always had girls and found them friendly enough). I would suggest a PAIR of males- they are social creatures who like the company of their own kind, and if you get females, it is a serious possibility they could come pregnant.
I think the males are more loving. :) Good luck! ;)
It doesn't really matter. Pick two rats you like 1 of each gender. Ask if you can hold each of them. If the female one is more relaxed pick that one if the male is more relaxed pick that one. Good Luck!!!!
definitely female!!males pee everywhere, are not playful at all(they are soooooo lazy),and they can grow 2 b the size of a guinea pig!!i had 1 ,he wuz sweet but personally ,i like females.no offense 2 any1 who prefers males1
