I've owned rabbits for years, and can tell you that hay is by far the best bedding. A layer of newspaper covered with a thick layer of hay is perfect. It will keep your bunny clean, they chew & eat it which is very important to their teeth & digestive systems, and it's very cheap to buy, and easy to clean up. Also, it won't stick so badly to the rabbit's fur, like some other bedding materials can. I've had rabbits for over 15 years (angoras) and wouldn't use anything else.
