What kind of toys can i get for my cavy/guinea pig to keep him happy

he looks pretty bored.

Guinea pigs are fortunitly very easy to amuse.

The first thing you can do to ensure that your cavy is satisfied is be sure it is living in a cage that is 7.5 square feet or larger. The best way to do this is building a C&C cage (which stands for cubes and coroplast). These cages are inexpensive (much cheaper than a store bought cage), and are really easily to clean. Your guinea pig should also have a friend to live with him. Guinea pigs do really well in pairs or groups of three, so I would suggest you get him either a spayed female or a male companion. Be sure the female is in fact spayed before you introduce them, and make sure whatever companion you decide on passes a two to three week quarantine in a seperate room away from your pig. Guinea pigs can carry a variaty of undetectable diseases, but they are only harmful to other guinea pigs.

As for toys, any type of cardboard box (12-pack soda boxes work great), pringles cans, tubes, bird toys (they love chewing on the wood), bells, toy balls that are made for cats, or even a rubber duck (mine chewed theirs up) work great. Be creative and use your own judgement. If you think you're guinea pig would like to play with something, go for it. Just be sure it is safe and harmless if ingested. My guinea pigs eat plastic. I have no idea why, but they love plastic (especially garbage or grocery bags). I have to be VERY careful about what I put in or around their cage.
