What kind of toys do you give a guinea pig2007-11-24 22:17:46

My piggy only has a little house that he sometimes jumps on top of, and I know they like to play; but with what?

Answers:

Hahaha...I have a piggie that does that too! I think its hilarious to see him sitting on his "throne" so he can be higher than his cagemate.

There are several things you can make yourself. Try:

* Toilet Paper tubes stuffed with hay.

* A Quaker Oats cylinder with the ends cut out.

* A crumpled up ball of notebook paper to push around.

* Inexpensive hard plastic cat toy balls w/ a bell inside (make sure the bell can't be removed).

* A shoebox with holes cut in all four sides to run in & out of.

* A brown paper bag with the opening folded down (like rolling up a shirt sleeve) to keep the opening open. Stuff it with a handful or two of hay.

* Get a small brick & attach two short planks of wood to either side to make a "ramp". They love to run up & down the ramp. This should be no more than a few inches in height. You don't want them to injure themselves if they fall off.

They like small wooden balls, and chew things shaped like vegetables found at pet stores. You can hang stuff on the inside of their cage. I love guinea pigs!

My guinea pigs don't play to much but you can give them little balls, a pipe or something for them to crawl in, another piggy friend, a pile of hay, that's pretty much all i use for my piggies.

There are many creative toys you can make for guinea pigs. http://www.petwebsite.com/article_read.a... is a great website with many ideas. Just DO NOT give a guinea pig an excersize wheel!! It will seriosly hurt their back and maybe even cripple them for life.
