What parts of a Broccoli can my guinea pig have2007-11-24 22:17:50

My 3 guinea pigs love broccoli!! You could also give your guinea pig:

-lettuce

-carrots

-tomato

-apples (we give ours the core, they love it!)

-oranges (they have alot of vitamin c, its very good for them!)

-fresh grass (just put your guinea pigs outside and let them be your lawn mowers!)

-Just about any other fruit or vegetable!

Broccoli is one of the few veggies that my piggie has major gas problems with. Gas in rodents is very dangerous. So, if you choose to feed it, do it sparingly. I'd recommend not feeding it at all.

Broccoli like cabbage has the tendency to cause gas. I would keep to the bell peppers/capsicum, parsley, baby spinach, red or green curly leaf lettuce, tomatoe etc.

Like Justified said do not be suprised if he does not eat the fresh produce as pet stores hardly ever give them vegetables and what not. My girls like grass too, if you have any un-fertilized grass areas take him outside. You will need to make some sort of enclosure because he is not going to just sit still for you.
