What pet should I get that is really easy to take care of and is playful2007-11-24 22:17:51Answers:

Years ago when my then-young son wanted a pet rat I said, "No way!"

Then when I was just home from the hospital after a rather bad time there my husband and son asked again. I just wanted a nap so I said, "OK, go ahead. Just let me rest."

I'm so glad that I was too tired to put up a fuss.

As it turns out Edgar is a wonderful pet. He doesn't take up much room, he's quiet, he loves to play, he's easy to feed and his cage is easy to clean. He was sick recently and I took him to the vet in the area who specializes in rodents. Without my asking, he told me that rats make excellent first pets because they're easy to take care of, sociable, intelligent, and live long enough to become a buddy to the owner. They also don't bite.

I'd really recommend you get a rat. Does the tail bother me? Not any more, but when we first got him I remembered a dear pet bunny that I'd had and still miss. Edgar is very much like that rabbit, but not as shy and is easier to care for. I thought of Edgar as a kind of longer tailed rabbit until I learned to love him for the rattie he is.

Cat. Give them food, water, a litter box and they are good! Kittens are really playful, they lose a lot of it as they age but will let you know when they are ready to play. Plus cats are excellent at mouse control!
silky terrier ..small , furry ,playfull and very smart dogs
You should get a Guinea pig, they are fun.
you should get a kitten! they are so playful! all the cats i have had have been really easy to take care of.
golden retriever is a great pet and is extremely playful.also a cat i suppose if you like them.
A cat. All you need to do each day is give it food and water and a little attention. They clean themselves, they don't need to be walked and they know to stay around your area and come back to your house.
A white rat is a wonderful, smart pet. But maybe goldfish would suit you better. They are really easy.
dog.
kitten or a Ginny pig.
A male cat, but get him fixed. I have had 3 male cats and 3 female cats in the past. Not all at the same time, but I hav enoticed that the female cats like to be left alone, and are bitchy. And the boy are more playfull as they get older. But ultimately, the cat can take itself to the bathroom, and if you invest in one the feeder water bowls things that have the container on top, you will not have not fill it's bowls everyday, come sin handy when you want to go out for a weekend. The only mess they make is in the little box and as long as you empty that once to a minimum of every other day. Your house will not stink like poop.
