What sex guinea pig is the best to keep as a pet
and why?
and how many should you keep?
also how hard is it to breed guinea pigs?
Answers:You'll get a multitude of opinions on which sex piggy is the best to have. I myself have two males, and I love them dearly. I'm not necessarily partial to have males...though when i think about it, all the animals I've ever owned in my childhood were always male...hmm.
Anyhow, guinea pigs do best in numbers, as in nature they are herd animals and prefer the company of other piggies. However, this can also depend on the temperment of the pig - my two males get along great, though they squabble from time to time for dominance - but I have a friend who had a lone female pig who preferred to be that way. Personally, I'd recommend having two, that way they have each other, but it's still within a reasonable effort to keep after them (cleaning, feeding, etc.)
As far as breeding goes, I would highly discourage it. As any animal lover will tell you, there is a ridiculously high amount of surrendered and homeless animals in this world, including guinea pigs. If you want more information on this, check out the sites below.
Good luck!
It depends all on what you would like to do with your furry freind. If you prefeer a laid back guinea pig a male is the best. But the females are way more active they like to rooch around and play more than the males do.

Most large chain pet stores only sell males, so owners cant have accidental litters to deal with. but if ur getting it from some where else it could be either. i dont think it really matters which sex. You can keep two or more together depending on the space they are given. If you want them to breed then put a male with a female they are not hat hard to breed you just have to find a male and female that like each other.
If you want a mellow guinea pig, it's usually males(there is always exceptions). For a more hyper guinea pig it's usually females (again always exceptions). I have both, and they all have different personalities. I have four males and 2 females, the 2 males Peter and Patrick that are in my room(2 are in my sisters) are pretty hyper. Um atleast get 2 of the same sex(unless you get one altered) they like to be together, make sure their house is big enough www.cavycages.com. I've never breed any animal before so I dunno.
i would say male there wya more laid back
It is always best to have a pair of guinea pigs. They get very lonely without another of their own kind to "talk" to and play with when you're not around.
I have both boars and sows. I find boars to be more fun to watch, but that is just my opinion. They both have their pros and cons health care wise.
Please do not breed guinea pigs. There are so many homeless piggies out there that desperately need a home. Please consider adopting your piggies from a local shelter or rescue. You can find one at www.petfinders.com
