What should I do if my hamster isbeing really naughty2007-11-24 22:17:25

If she continually bites, escapes, and etc.

my hamster hasn't bitten me at all, but I am just wondering just in case.

but she has escaped. But i got her back

She's not acting out of being "angry", she's just afraid. Escaping is a natural tendency, which you just adress by fixing it so she can't get out. (They will always try to escape, no matter how happy & friendly they are)

The biting is because she is afraid and doesn't know what else to do. Try to handle her frequently, but not for very long at first, then gradually increasing the amount of time you handle her. Let her crawl along your arm, don't force her to sit still. The action will keep her mind occupied so she's not so afraid, while also letting her get used to the idea of being handled.

If she does bite you, try not to react (it's hard because it hurts) it will only make her more afraid if you jump or yell when she bites.

don't hurt the hamster. She's afraid...if you handle her more and get her a cage she can't open, you'll be doing you BOTH a favor.

Give her things to play with, a wheel, chew toys, balls...nesting material...she needs to play and be loved, just like all animals.

you should like tie up the cage. And if it bits you you should like wear rubber gloves the thick type. My friend has two hamsters that bites so she just feeds them and everything but she doesnt play with them i think they r scary (my friend's hamsters)... My hamsters are really cute. If u have dwarf robo hamsters they shouldnt bite.

You can't scold a hamster like you would a dog. If she does bite, its out of fear, so be gentle with her and gain her trust.
