What should I feed my hamster besides hamster food
What should I feed my hamster besides hamster food2007-11-24 22:17:26Answers:
almost all types of vegetables, and clovers, that is the cheap, yummy, (4 them) way 2 go!
When I was a teen, I had a hamster that really enjoyed fresh carrots and potatoes.
You can give some fresh fruits or veggies.
I know my hamster like apples, peas and lettuce.
They love carrots and other veggtables.
Proper hamster mix is all they need to get all their nutrients, although the OCCASIONAL (no more than 1 piece twice a week) piece of hard fruit or veg an beneficial too. By 'proper hamster mix' I mean stuff in a proper packet from somewhere like Petsmart, not a clear plastic bag with a 'hamster mix' label on like you get from smaller pet stores
As far as extra food as treats goes, stick to hard fruit or veg as described above, or proper rodent treats from pet stores like yoghurt drops. Definitely no sugary cereal, sweets or chocolate!! Remember hamsters can get wet tail (diarrhoea) from inappropriate diet, so stick to what has been designed for them.
Chalice
a pinch of oatmeal in their food every day for extra fiber (mine loves it); apples, bananas, or veggies once or twice a week; yogurt drops as treats every other day or so :)
