What should I put in a aquarium cage for my hamster2007-11-24 22:17:58

like what should i put inside? like any tubes and stuff? I haven't bought one yet but i'm wondering what to put inside.

You will need a running wheel(with a flat running surface so his feet don't get stuck and cause injuries.), a water bottle(flat back so it can be hung in the cage), all hamsters love paper towel rolls (you can cut them in half so they are shorter and if you have a chubby hamster cut a slit all the way down one side so he won't get stuck), a hidey house(i like the igloo kind since you can see inside if them and your hammy still feels secure.), a food dish and a dish for fresh food(the kind that can't be tipped or chewed causing intestinal blockage.), and chew sticks to keep his teeth worn down, since thier teeth constantly grow. Basically once you have a water bottle, hidey house, food dish and running wheel you can add in the extras. Just be sure that he has enough spaceto run around the cage without bumping into things.

Yes tubes are a wonderful idea. You don't need to worry about ventilation cause when you buy the tubes in stores they come with holes in them. Also a wheel so that they can exercise, and maybe some type of little house so they can sleep without the sun or light bothering them {because they do sleep during the day}. I'm just writing from experience, from what my hamsters liked.

First, get newspaper and set it down at the bottom of the cage ( It absorbes pee ) and then get some tishues for a nice carpet. Then put in a wheel for exercise, a little food dish, water bottle, and a little igloo for them to sleep in .( You can find them at any local pet store =) ). Also, if you want add some chewing blocks so they can wear down their teeth. I hope this heped!
