Other things you can put are things like a used toilet roll for it to play and hide with, chew toys to trim their teeth, not forgetting fresh food, water and treats to pamper your hamster.

you should put wood shavings a bowl of water a bowl of food and play toys.yes, you should put tubes in but not cardbord thay will chew it and its bad for them

If I were you, I would get a crittertrail cage, aquariums don't ventilate, and they breed mold and bacteria, that's why fish tanks need antifungicide put in and water clarifiers to keep out the molds. They only have them in aquariums in petstores to save money and space, and they don't actually live there, just a holding area til adopted out or sold. Also, syrians are solitary and will fight other hamsters after they hit a certain age, put up with the biting, they all do it at night, esp. when they want out of the cage at night, which you should get an exercise ball and let her run around the house in it for about an hour each night anyway.

A jogging wheel will do wonders to take away their boredom, specially at night when they are most active. Tubes are fine and any toys that are not easily chipped off or toxic when nipped. Also make sure that the toys you put in wouldn't topple over him.
