Wondering how this happened, but I think I'd just leave it alone. I really don't know what a vet could do for it. I think it'll just take time and it will heal, but not perfectly. He may have a limp, it may not look straight, but he'll be just fine if it's just a broken leg. In the meantime if you handle him be very careful! Don't let anyone hold him that may drop him!!!
Could happen if you have a slatted running wheel instead of an enclosed one. Critters are very prone to breaks due to them.
The only thing you could really do is take it to the vet if you can.
I would bring it to the vet. If he can't do anything then leave it alone for a while & feed it & give it water yourself, so it doesn't hurt itself. If it doesn't heal & it looks like it is in pain i would get it put down. It's better then suffering
The only thing you can do, is take it to a vet. They can do everything they can to fix your baby hammy. More than likely they will put him in a small cast after fixing it.
Please don't think they won't do anything, it won't just "heal on it's own". It's just like a human breaking their leg.
Good luck, and hope your hammy gets better.
I have successfully splinted a clients hamster with a broken leg. His leg slipped through his exercise wheel while he was running. Call around to see which vets in your area like to see unusual pets. We're a pretty creative group. The cost may vary - I try to keep things reasonable, if minimal materials and effort are involved.
