What should you do if your hamster has wet tail
good luck kid...and remember to feed your hammie cabbage whenever they might be stressed in order to prevent wet tail before this happens again
If it's wet-tail, then chances are very high that even with taking your hamster to the vet, he would die from dehydration. Vets would give him a huge dose of anti-biotics. You can try phoning vets and explaining that you don't have a lot of money..
I have tried dri-tail on a hamster that I had with wet tail many years ago. didn't work, unfortunately. I don't know if the hamster was too far gone, or the dri-tail just didn't work, but the little guy died within a day.
If it's not wet-tail, but a virus of various sorts, it is possible to ride it out. Make sure your hamster is taking in liquids. Take the water-bottle to your hamster and give him water to drink.
Someone suggested cabbage - I've never heard what they said about cabbage, but it certainly can't hurt. The hamster will not only get liquid from the cabbage, but some nutrition as well.
Good luck to you and your hammy!!
ok first pick up the dri tail, then switch all of his food to block food, bloock food provides more nutrients for the hanster and will help with the diarea issue, i feed all my animal plain block food and have never had problems, good luck, i hate seeing people pets pass away
go to the pet store for something called dritail it will save his life
Get to the pet store immediately and get him some medicine called "dri-tail". While the vet is a wayyyy better option this will have to do if you can't afford the vet. I'm so sorry, usually hamsters don't live through wet-tail but I do hope yours survives, I can't imagine what I would do if my precious hammie got sick! Please, keep him hydrated with fresh water, give him dry toast crust and the dri-tail medication. I hope he makes it! Keep us posted!
The moral of this sad story is you had no right taking on the responsibility of an animals life when you new that you could not financially help the poor thing if it was to fall ill, and mum should not of let you have a pet if she was not going to foot the vet bills for you. Its just terrible, and ever so slightly cruel of you. Im sure you loved your pet, but animals are not possesions like a doll, they need constant care, and medical help when its needed.
take him to the pet stiore u bought him from and get him checked out and then if he does they will send him right to the vet
I agree completely with BranFlan, and I don't know what to tell, u , but it doesn't look good for your hammie. My BFF had a couple hamsters and she lost them to wet tail. But one her hammies finally came out okay, so keep givin' it Dri-tail and hope for the best! Good luck!
