What snacks do you feed your chinchilla2007-11-24 22:18:00

i like to give mine (Beau Bo-my mum named her) toast crusts,green grapes,dried cactus and she loves raisins.

what do you give yours as a treat?

Answers:

Mine used to LOVE Jacobs Cream Crackers or Ryevitas, the odd grape or piece of apple too but he wasn't that fussed about fruit. The breeder I got him off discovered his love for cream crackers when he was a little baby :-)

They like hard things to bite on.

The chinchilla is a large rodent at the end of the day and like all rodents, if they done knaw their teet down, they will die from not being able to eat becaus of too long teeth.

I feed mine dried apricots - they go crazy for them! Only 1 a day, or could cause a funny tummy. I also give them dried corn on the cob, you can get it in packs of two or three from the pet shops.

welll ur not supposed to give chinchillas candy or any thing like that but all 26 of my chinchillas like lollipops the vet said they were ok if they only had a lillipop every now and then

mine love apple :) also they're fanatic for raisins, and they love wood chews, and alfafa hay cubes! oh and omg they LOVE dried barley and dried oats!! seriously its really good for them too ahhh bless them :)

if your pet has a complete food mix especially for chinchillas then any thing else is a treat and not to much because of fat pet problems you could try dried fruit or even snack sticks most will say rat/ rabbit and so on mine love dried banana Chip's designed for pets as human dried fruit has too much sugar

Mine used to LOVE raisins.and was partial to the odd peanut...(although the nuts were very few and far between, as too many can cause problems)

But she also loved grapes too!

mine go crazy for cheerios and shredded wheat.and of course every once in a while a raisin.
