What to cover wire ramps etc withNewpaper isnt working out so well
Well, my rat, Sugar, currently lives in the "Rat Highrise" from Martin's Cages (martinscages.com). I usually just cover the wire ramps with newspaper, but it gets pull off, shreded, and used as bedding. What can I use that WON'T get pulled off, shreded, and used as bedding? Thnaks in advance!

Answers:I am suprised that you even used newspaper in the first place. Any kind of paper will always be chewed and used for nesting.
You should do like the person before me suggested and get thick rubber mats. They are pretty easy to scrub down really quickly.
Do not use that carpet. They will shred that up, TOO!! Plus, oh, it would be a pain to clean!!
Untreated thick wood really would be good to use.
They could chew on it, but it wouldn't be totally ruined at first.
Good Luck with that!
Have you tried cardboard, or what about wood, wood could double as something for sugar to cut her teeth on as well ...
Hope you find a solution ...
I had this problem too when I had a rat. What I tried was a rubber sheet. It gripped the ramp so it didn't get pulled off, and it was firm enough to not be ripped/chewed. You can get it at your local petco or petsmart. Or maybe even local petstore if you don't have those.
I wouldn't use carpet. I tried that, and it only lasted a day. There were carpet 'strands' everywhere. Trust me. I wouldn't. x)
I hope this helped. ^-^
