What type of fruits and vegetables can you give a Guinea Pig, that wont give him diarrhoea2007-11-24 22:18:05

-celery (kinda gives em smelly breath for a while :P)

-grass

-peas (in the pod or out)

-carrots

Mine have lettuce occasionally as a treat (no iceberg!), cucumber, peppers, sweetcorn, spinach, kale, watercress, rocket, carrot, etc. They have fruit occasionally as a treat too.

Have a look at the guinealynx website, they have great advice on feeding :) Remember they need a constant supply of fresh hay and water - you should also be feeding a mix or pellets (preferably pellets in my opinion)

You have some very good answers, I just want to add NO grapes although someone said they love them, they do, but please none of them. There is also something I have read about dogs being allergic to them and raisins. I would not give them to my piggie pies anymore. Just in case. I understand gpigs are made and built differently than dogs, but when in doubt keep it out. Just a warning.

The diet of my pigs are romaine lettuce, cucumber, carrots, cauliflower, celery, broccoli, tomatoes, red and white cabbage and peppers. None of the above have given mine diarrhoea but I don't give any fruit.

They must have vitamin c drops in their water daily else they will not survive.

I feed my guinea pigs on a daily basis a mixture of:

Spinach

Green Beans

Cabbage

Apple

Tomatoes

Cucumber

It is not reccomended to feed guinea pigs lettuce for it gives them colic so give them it little if at all.
