What type of ginnie pig breed is best for a 9 year old kid
i need it for petfinder.com
Answers:All breeds are pretty much the same with regard to their physiological make-up. The main difference will be the length of the hair. Short haired piggies are easier to take care of since they don't require much grooming, if any. Guinea pigs should really be housed in pairs, just in case you didn't know.
I would be hesitant to allow a 9 year old to have a pig unless an adult is willing to oversee the care of the pet. Guinea pigs are somewhat fragile and easily dropped by a child that is not well versed in handling them. Pigs also require quite a bit of care with regard to diet & housing. Please be sure you have done an adequate amount of research before you allow your child to have one of these sweet pets. Its great you're looking for a piggie on Petfinder! I commend you.

Learn how to spell Guinea Pig first.
The short haired one. the normal kind.
the short haired kind also known as an "American" is best since it has very easy to care for fur and they also come on different colors for you to choose from
but remember that guinea pigs are happiest with a buddy (get two litter mates- girls generally get along better then boys) and that a 9 year old shouldn't be expected to care for a guinea pig all by herself, so you should be prepared to take care of it mostly.
