Im looking for hamster that can climb around the critter trails and does not bite when handled also would like if it was active and fun to watch and does not mind being alone. can syrians climb throuch crittertrails?

Any Suggestions?

Also please be specific in what type of dwarf hamster (cambpells, white winter, etc.)

I would recommend a Syrian hamster for you! They rarely bite, and, yes, they can go through the critter trail tubes and such! Actually, the dwarf hamsters can't, because they are too small and can fall down the tubes and get hurt! I hope that this helped! THANKS and GOOD LUCK,

I have a Chinese Dwarf Hamster and i absolutely adore her! They are very tempremental, fun to play with, rarely every bite, and easy to care for. The only time she has ever bitten me was one time when she accidentally got away from me and she spent 30 minutes running from me! Naturally, she was scared, but even so, I could barely feel it! Some syrians will fit.. many outgrow them. Most crittertrail cages aren't big enough for a syrian anyway, unless you look at the expensive ones.

Any dwarfs will fit. Any russian variety (as opposed to chinese or roborovski) are fairly similar, mainly colouring is the only real difference. Chinese hamsters are not true dwarfs, and so have a tendancy to fight others, so are often best kept alone. All dwarf species (and chinese) are prone to biting. Roborovski hamsters are usually best kept in pairs or trios, and are possibly the worst for nipping, and hardest to tame unless handled form a young age. Also escape artists, many people say aquarium tanks suit them better.
