congrats! Dwarfies are adorable and if you get the right one, a lot of laughter and fun. But be aware that most dwarfies are nippers. The best way to avoid that is to handle them while still in the store - they'll give themselves away pretty fast if they think people are tasty. They also have a very short life span. That said, I've owned a few of the 'mighty mites' with personalities as big as houses who entertained me for hours and didn't mind the occasional snuggle time. They're fast too. Best advice, handle them while still in the store and go from there. Also be aware that any sized hamster is a natural chewer and escape artist. If I was going to give you advice on the ideal ham for a first timer though - I'd suggest you go with a male Black bear hamster of the regular size. Of all the hams, they tend to be the most laid back and friendly. Once more, handle them while you're still in the store first and good luck and God speed - you're about to let a little ball of fuzz that thinks its a clown, a wild beast, a hero, and a tiny little god in bunny slippers into your life. The more time you spend with them the more their personalities come out.
