Do not buy a hamster! They are nocturnal, sleep all day & don't like to be bothered, they bite like crazee! If you want that type of pet, social & fun to handle, guinea pigs - they're great. My kids have had them for years, we've had 5 litters of babies..please, get a g-pig ~ they need love too!
get a syrian, they live alone and love people, the others are nervous and edgy types of hamsters.
well i had one short haired hamster and i gave it back to the pet store because it was really mean to me . after that i bought another one and they said that black bear hamster don't really bite and they are very friendly. so i bought it and they were right!
