What would be a good pet for me2007-11-24 22:18:34

I currently have a pet cornsnake and a pet rat. I am a dedicated and responsible pet owner and would love to have another member in my animal family. I hold my cornsnake for an hour each day. I feed him once a week in a separate tank. I also change his water once daily. And once a month I completely empty and scrub down everything in his tank and fill it with fresh bedding, but I clean out the sides where he's most likely to defecate once every two weeks and add a small amount of fresh bedding. And with the baby rat, I hold her for probably 2-3 hours a day. She plays in the ball a couple times a day for about 20 minutes each. I clean her once a week completely. I currently have the time, money, space and energy for a third animal which would be helping to fill the void of a beloved pet that recently passed. I've always wanted a teddy bear hamster and am wondering if you think this might be a good choice. I would love another little fella to spoil with toys and treats.

A personal favourite is a guinea pig, they are odorless, do not bite and are very cute and cuddly. Guinea pigs are herd animals by nature thus why the do better in pairs, please consider getting 2 if you do decide to get a guinea pig. They require a good plain pellet, hay and fresh produce twice a day. Guinea pigs can be kept inside or outside but it depends on the weather, an indoor cage does not cost as much. Floor time should be done every day for 1 hour in a piggy safe room, you will need to clean out the cage every 5 days or so. A personal favourite for bedding is aspen. I use newspaper which I top with a couple of inches of aspen. Aspen soaks up the urine and means that the cage and the piggy do not smell as much. Fleece is becoming increasingly popular, in the short term it costs more but long term the price is cheaper. Guinea pigs are classified as exotic so if they ever need to go (they do need an annual check up) you will need to take them to a exotic vet, this does cost more. Toys can be made from home using resources like paper bags, 4 inch pvc pipes and plain cardboard boxes. Guinea pigs are diurnal which means that they sleep at night and are awake during the day. Whilst they take up more space then a hamster they replace this with charming personalities.
yeah. i think a hamster would be good considering you have all small pets
hun its up to you but id go with a chinchilla the have no odor and live 4-9 years (normally a bout 6 years but whateve) the are energetic but not masivly but if you decide to get one do the reserch first!hope it helps!!
Your corn is very well taken care of, but the rat can be *much* better!
