Squirrels can carry rabies they just don't normally but I would rather get vaccinated than get rabies. The bite wound could also get infected. You cannont get the plague from a squirrel bite.

Usually when you get by any wild animal, you should have it checked out by a doctor because it could become infected. You might even need a shot. I'd get it checked out if you did get bitten.
