Whats Our guinea Pigs Problem

Whats Our guinea Pigs Problem2007-11-24 22:18:41

He Chatters his teeth at us. He never use to do that, he started after we got him a "Buddy"but we separated the two, after two weeks they started fighting. Our Guinea pig use to have a open cage but we have to keep it closed at all times now.

(He breaks out b/c hes a mean bugger)

He doesn't beep around anymore, the only thing he does is make a b line for the other g-pigs cage to sit in front of. He seems to hate the other pig and us.

we use to have calls for him and he ignores us he doesn't motor boat on our feet, nothing. Now he act's like a typical pissed off g-pig.

Would he go back to being himself if we give the other pig away?

The only reason we got the baby was b/c EVERYONE told us He HAD to have a buddy.

he seemed a lot happier with just us.

Answers:

Don't listen to the person above me. Males can & do get along all the time. It is a myth that they will always fight.

It sounds like your resident boar is quite unhappy. Did you do proper introductions?

If you just put a baby boar in the cage without completely de-scenting the cage & EVERYTHING in it, you're going to have fights every single time. They MUST be introduced on neutral ground with nothing that smells like either one of them. A clean bathroom floor is a good place, where they can be confined but still have room to get to know one another. Once introductions have taken place, they can then be placed in the de-scented & cleaned cage.
