i want a small pet. i have had hamsters and g. piggies but thats it. i want something freindly that i can pick up and wont worry about it dashing away the minute i come near.

oh! and if you are thinking of a rat...i kinda have a fear of them (used to have a big city apartment...need i say more?)

Would a rabbit be small enough? I've had tons of pets, and rabbits are still my favourite.

Gerbils are generally friendlier and better to handle than hamsters, but they don't stay still for long. They're usually happy to be handled, and if properly tamed, will run right out onto your handle.

But you should definately consider rats. Fancy rats are much smaller than wild rats, and much friendlier. They're very intelligent and make very, very good pets.

most small animals are skittish. what about a small dog... like a chiuaua or something? they are friendly, don't take up a lot of space. BUT you'll have to take care of it a lot more than a caged rodent, that's for sure!

Alot of people have a fear of rats, but pet rats are much much different than outdoor wild rats. I would strongly reconsider ... they are the sweetest little creatures, and they can learn commands and tricks in no time!

In the case you still don't want a rat, I would recommend a rabbit like the girl a few answers above said. I got my bunny back in February and she is the sweetest little girl ever. I have trained her to give me kissies and am now working on the litter box training. The clean themsleves like a cat, so they don't need baths. Despite what many people say, they are not extremely fragile, my bunny hops many places high and low and she is perfectly fine under supervison. Just don't put your bunny in the heat, they can dehydrate very easily and quickly ... the cause of death for most household rabbits.
