Whats the best type of lotion to use before handeling your pet rat2007-11-24 22:18:10

i know nothing too sweet or she'll bite me..

i need a good lotion to use because she likes the smell of my fingers so she bites me a bit..

i need something not appealing ot her that gets rid of my smell

any ideas?

You could squeak loudly when she bites you. It sounds stupid and I feel stupid when I do it, but it really does give the rats pause. When I do it, I say "squeak!" really high pitched and loudly. They make a similar noise when someone hurts them. It's how I stopped one of my boys from trying to use my hands as a chew block. He figured out from that noise that he was hurting me.

USE A LITTLE BIT OF RUBBING ALCOHOL ON YOUR HANDS, BE CARE-FULL OF LOTIONS YOU DON'T WANT TO MAKE HER SICK.

Wash your hands with a mild soap. Do not wear lotion, it could make her sick.

you shouldn't use any type of lotion cause that can get into it's stomach!

don't were lotion. mine always nibble me a little when i first take herv out but its never hard . just wash your hands and if she bites tell her no in a firm voice. she will get the hint. rats are smarter than some dogs:)

don't hide your smell tap her on the nose and give her a firm no and then put her back in the cage.
