What is the difference between a fancy rat,dumbo rat and a feeder rat

Answers:

There really is no difference in the behavior or aggresion. Of course, that depends on the rat itself, and the amount that it has been handled and tamed. Feeder rats are simply the rats at petstores that are bred to be fed to snakes and reptiles, so they have little to NO handling and can be hard to tame. Dumbo rats only look different from the other rats because their ears are, well I can't describe it. here is a picture.

But as you can see the ears are slightly more rounded and on the side.

That is a picture of just rat. Also called fancy rats.

I think that normally when people say fancy rat they think of rats from breeders, like "high quality pet rats".

dumbo rats have big ears that sit low on their heads...fancy rats and feeders are basically the same, but some petstores will inbreed the feeders...feeder rats are not handled in a friendly way by the breeders or petstores, but there is no real genetic difference

Fancys are held in the pet shop and humalised. I have all three and Fancys are the best

Fancy rats are smaller and usually less social, feeder rats unless bought at a trustworthy pet store/breeder can easily get sick, and dumbo rats are called dumbo rats because they have large ears like dumbo the elephant! lol I would suggest either a dumbo rat, rex, rat or curly haired rex rat.. Rats make great pets!

fancy rats are just plain rats with colored markings on their body. Dumbo rats have large ears compared to most rats. feeder rats im not so sure about.
