Whats the name of the hamster that changes color ( Dwarf) Details inside2007-11-24 22:18:13

They had gray fur, and had black stripes down the sides.

I only held a few, but I would like to know if they are more dosile, or crazy?

Dwarfs aren't more "crazy" per se, just a lot more hyper than tamed syrians. I think that notion comes from the fact that dwarfs (when neglected) can become "wild" and must be tamed again.

I believe winter whites are more docile than most dwarfs (cambells) but more wild than syrians.

They are indeed Winter Whites. Winter Whites are another breed of Campbell's Russian dwarf hamsters, and will probably not have a noticable color change in any home in a temperate climate (US).

Dwarfs are not crazier, nastier, more aggressive, or meaner than Syrian hamsters. Syrian hamsters were domesticated years and years before Dwarf hamsters were. So while Syrians have been bred so much that they don't have a real rememberance of the wild, dwarfs do. If you leave a syrian in a cage for two weeks, he should remember you and still be the same syrian. If you leave a dwarf in a cage for two weeks (less, actually), he reverts to his wild self and will need to be retamed, which can be more difficult the second time around.

They are called winter white dwarf hamsters because in the winter there fur changes colour in to pure white.
