Whats wrong with my hamster
My baby boy (scribbles the hamster) has always been active. he is about a year old. but recently he hasn't been running on his wheel every night, and he doesn't drink water a lot either. but when i took him out, he wasn't skinny at all and his nose was moist. he ran around my shirt like usual. but he escaped 6 times last month and twice this month. now i can't find him! why does he want to escape so much? i love him and treat him like my child, but he still choses to escape. i have to admit i have been busy and have payed a little less attention to him, but he sleeps a lot so that shouldn't matter. is he getting sick or depressed. i will never know if i can't find him. he has been gone for 2 days, and no one has heard any sounds. is he dead? I know this is a lot of questions but I miss him and i am worried sick about him.
Answers:I've read many hamster questions similar to this - where regularly active hamsters start slowing down. My guess is that its because of the extreme heat. Try moving Scribbles into a different room, that has a fan and is air conditioned. Just make sure your hammy doesn't get too cold.
Scribbles is most likely deyhydrated. Keep many bowls of water around your house, until you see him come by. When he does, feed him gently through a needleless syringe to get some liquids into him. When my hamster escaped, I put food out and she took it quickly, scurrying back into a hole in the house when i tried to pick her up. When I put water out, she drank alot and didn't mind when I picked her up and put her back in her cage.
