Whats wrong with my hamster2007-11-24 22:18:43

it seemed like this happened overnight...one day my hamster is totally fine and today I found her looking all weak and shakey. When she walks around it's this painful shakey walk...what's wrong with her? I don't think it's wettail b/c her bottom looks fine and I thought she had wettail a month ago but that turned out to be a fluke. Also, she smells weird, it's not an overpowering stinky feces kind of smell, it's an odd kind of musky scent- it's not pleasant.

did you put water in his dry food? They're not supposed to eat mushy food. This could kill him.

You should take it to the vet before something worst happens. I used to have one, and we thoutht it was just a small moment thet wouldnt harm any. But we left the cage by the window one day thet it snowed and the hamster got a cold. It died,boo hoo.

Depends on how old she is, they can go down hill very quickly so it's probably best to take her to a vet. But if you can't and she's still eating and drinking then keep her out of drafts and in a warm place.

I would take her to the vet right away. It could be a disease and your hamster be sick, or it could just be her time to go. That happened to my old hamster. One day she fell asleep, but never woke up. If she's just sick, I hope she gets better. But you never know. Hamsters only live 1 1/2-2 years.
