Whats wrong with my hamster2007-11-24 22:18:42

There seems to be a bald spot under her chin or a bump... It is really hard to tell bcuz she is hard to handle bcuz she was abused by her old owner. It is a cricle shape. It is real small.

If it is a bump what could it be?

Or if its a bold spot, is that just ageing?

I am not too sure how old she is. the old owner just told me to take her. but i know she is at least a year

Plz tell me if I should wait a day or so to see what happens or go to the vet

when hamsters get bald spots it usually because they are sick or under stress and if it is a bump it probably hurt itself somehow in the cage.

I think you should take her to the vet right away, considering the fact that the old owner was abusive, this could be a critical situation.

I'm having the same problem except it is open in the middle and draining. Everyone said it could be cancer or just an absess from cutting a cut. I feel so helpless because none of the vets are open right now! I hope your hammy is ok. I hope mine is too

Try washing with saline water, and it id still continues to worsen, bring it to the vet, but i can tell you, the vet may not be able to cure it, cuz sometimes the medication is too strong

it might just be scar tissue. hair doesn't grow over scar tissue so it might be a result of something he had in the past.
