when i wake my hamster in the day sometimes it makes this funny squeaking noise, is this normal ?

I know you've said the hamster is new to you and you like to spend time with it but hamsters naturally sleep in the day and are active at night, nocturnal. So like the others have said it might be squeaking in complaint that it has been woken up when it really needs to be sleeping.

You are not meant to wake it up i am very sure that noise means you are disturbing him let him sleep and wake up when it wants to.Hamsters are not like human beings they are not meant to be woken up.

They always do this, at least one's that I've woken up. They were just startled. It's normal.

Hamsters only squeak if they are scared, so no, this is not "normal" behaviour if you have a happy hamster. Hamsters are nocternal and love to sleep, being woken up will leave them grumpy, confused, and as you have experianced, scared. Leave him to sleep and dont wake him up for now on.

Hamsters are nocturnal. You should not wake them up during the day. They should wake up around the late night and go back to sleep early morning or that what my hamsters do. Your hamster is upset because it doesn't want to wake up.

the hamster may be aggrevated at you for waking her up, hamsters are nocturnal by nature, they usually wake up in the evening. How old isyour hamster? if she's still young, it's normal for her to make squeaking noises, she's probly just exercising her vocal cords.Hamsters are meant t squeak. she'll stop in about a week, if not shorter.

you have one that does not want to bothered when it is sleeping, that is why it squeaks at you, so leave her alone, they don't usually like to be awakened during the day, I have one sweetie that dosn't mind it.

lol dude that's probably coz your not meant to wake hamsters up there nocturnal (sleep in the day wake at night)hamsters squeak if they are scared or annoyed and if someone woke me up when I'm tired i get annoyed to!

leave the poor thing to get up when he/she wants to and it will be fine
