Where Can I Get a Free Guiena Pig2007-11-24 22:18:54

I look in the classifieds and iWanna (a BIG classified book) but as soon as I call, they are gone! What about a flea market? Oh, btw I live in Anderson South Carolina incase that helps. Thanks!

Shelters can be kind of expensive, but it's always a good idea to save an animals life. I know you want one for free, but they are all that expensive. Probably around 30 dollars, give or take. If you can't find anything, and you don't want to pay for the cost of one from a pet shop, then try getting another type of rodent. Maybe a hamster or rat, they are less expensive but maybe even better.

Remember, you have to pay for the cage, food, supples, toys, and other things. The money will add up.

Humane societies do take in hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs and rabbits in addition to cats and dogs, so give the shelters a try!

Everything that you have ready so far is a great start, but I don't think you'll find a free one anywhere. If you want to save one, check shelters, but I don't think they find small rodents that often.

You probably will not get a free one, I have found that guinea pigs brought from a pet store or breeder are often far more expensive. So far the cheapest guinea pig that I have got (and probably the healthiest) was from a rescue/shelter type place. It cost me about half of the price compared to a piggy brought from a pet store/breeder.

Go to petfinder.com and look under the "fuzzies" section. Plenty of rescues in need of a home. You can do nationwide or regional searches
